voipGATE Telephone Services are available to anyone who has a Broadband Internet Access (DSL, Cable or better).
With voipGate, you just need a Softphone on a computer or any SIP enabled device to place and receive your calls.
The SIP enabled device (ex: AVM Fritzbox, Siemens Gigaset C450IP, Grandstream ATA,...) turns your analogue voice into digital data. The SIP device sends the data out over the Internet. If you are using an ATA unit you will also need a Modem.
If you are calling another VoIP Phone, the data reaches that other phone directly via the Internet. With voipGATE you can reach most VoIP Providers in the world.
If you are calling an analogue or ISDN Phone, the data travels over the Internet until it reaches the nearest Gate to the local fixed phone or mobile phone company of the person you are calling, where it is converted back to analogue and sent out over the normal phone lines.
