1 Introduction
1.1 Getting Started
This White Paper is intended as a guide for the configuration of the AVAYA IP500 Telephone System to connect to the voipGATE service.
The intended audience of this document is the PBX Administrator or Network/Solutions Integrator of the AVAYA IP500.
Unless otherwise stated please use the default settings.
1.2 Version Compatibility
The AVAYA IP500 version utilised in this series of testing is;
AVAYA IP 500 4.2 (backwards compatible with 4.0)
voipGATE version 1.4.r.75450
NOTE: Please note that differing results of compatibility may be experienced on other releases/versions of the same product line. Always ensure you have the latest voipGATE software release installed.

All information presented in this document is current at time of writing.
The latest information regarding voipGATE compatibility and testing should be sourced directly from the voipGATE Support page which you can find at: www.voipgate.com

2 voipGATE Settings
2.1 Settings / Advanced / VoIP Settings
Login into your voipGATE account and go to the “Advanced Settings” tab then “VoIP Settings” tab and configure your settings as per below. 
2.2 Settings / Dial Options
Configure the “Dial Options” tab as per below. Please note that it is important to choose an “International prefix” of “00”
3 Avaya IP500 Settings
3.1 Confguration of voipGATE Trunks on the Avaya IP500
a) Create a new SIP line
=> fill in:
- ITSP Domain Name
- ITSP IP Address (refer to Welcome Email from voipGATE)
- Username (yyyy) (refer to Welcome Email from voipGATE)
- Password (xxxx) (refer to Welcome Email from voipGATE)
- Set Use Network Topology Info to “LAN1”
- Other settings as per screenshot below

b) On the System tab go to LAN1 tab and then to Network Topology tab
- Fill in the STUN Server IP Address: in this case 80.92.86.23 (refer to Welcome Email from voipGATE)
- Set Firewall/NAT Type to “Full Cone NAT”
- Fill in your Public IP Address
- Click “RUN STUN” button & wait a moment for the IP Office to respond

c) On the SIP URI tab :
- set Local URI to “Use User Data”
- enter the IP Address of the Avaya IP Office
- fill in the Incoming and Outgoing Group (in this case “6”)

d) Create a new Incoming Call Route
=> Fill Line Group Id with the same Id as configured in “SIP URI” (in this case “6”)
e) On the User tab there will be a SIP tab
=> In the SIP Name enter the DID number that you received from voipGATE.
=> Use International Dialing format ie. “352xxxxxx...”
f) Create a new Short Code
- in this case these are “600N” and “6N”
- see screen shots below

g) Also create a new ARS route to link the Short Codes to.

4 Using voipGATE
4.1 Making Test Calls
After successfully configuring your voipGATE Service you should validate your settings by performing the following series of calls:
a) Local to Fixed Local call
b) Local to Mobile call
c) Local to other Fixed National number (same country different area code)
d) Local to Fixed International call
e) Local to Mobile International call
f) Test each DID number created in 3.1 e)
