Your microphone level is under the control of your operating system. If the person you are talking with has a problem hearing you loud and clear, this could come from you microphone setting. Accessing this setting is different under Windows XP and Windows Vista:
Windows XP
In the control panel click on sound and audio devices and sound tab
On the recording section you will have a list of all sound input device of your computer. Choose the device that you have configured the softphone to use as input device, then click on Advanced, or Volume + Advanced under the microphone section if it’s disabled.
Disable the microphone boost and set the level to a moderate value (e.g. middle of the scale) to have the best quality.

Open the Sound properties in the control panel and click on the Recording tab.
You can check here all your input devices. Click on the device you want to use and click on properties.
You will be now on your microphone properties where four main tabs: General, Level, Enhancements and advanced, sometimes you could have other specific tab depending on your sound card, for more advanced controls.
To test your microphone and speaker levels, you can do a test call, the so called 'echo test', by dialing the number +352 27273098 (free of charge). Just dial the number and you will hear instructions how to proceed.
We can’t control all kind of sound input devices so you will need to test yourself with your own equipment! What we are saying now is just advice.
First good step is to set you Microphone boost to Off (often set in the level tab) and to push to the max your mic level.
Another second step is to enable the noise reduction or suppression and check the Acoustic Echo cancellation in the enhancements tab.
Finally in advanced switch you workstation set the default Format to 16bit 96000Hz.
